[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I love coloured mascaras - from the wonderful, back-in-the-day Clinique Black Honey (that needs to come back) to Kiko's Metallic Purple. I wore Rouge Intense to walk Dora last week and although nobody I stopped to chat with said anything, I did notice that they were really looking quite hard at my eyes. It's a strange, but not unpleasant, feeling although coloured mascaras are more at home on nights out or glam events rather than the mundanity of the Tesco aisles.

I think you have to let the coloured mascara do the talking - it's a bit chaotic if you combine it with loads of other colours - here, I'm wearing just a base, some highlighter and some sheer lip balm. I used MAC lash primer underneath to really bring out the colour but because the shade is so intense it looks pretty good over dark lashes as well.

There are two new, limited edition, shades in Noir Allure - Rouge Intense, as shown and Orange Bruni. Orange Bruni is interesting because it's a deep toned orange - like a burnt orange I think you would say - that has steered clear of being 'fun' and stayed serious and stylish. It's giving me Tilda Swinton vibes and glows on the barest background you dare to give it.

A good tip for wearing coloured mascara, other than using a white mascara or primer underneath to help the colours pop, is to tip the ends of your lashes with black mascara - literally just jab the wand side on to the lash tips. You get a kind of mix of black and red/orange that's less stark and feels a bit more in the comfort zone.

I took this just for fun but actually, I love it and it does make you realise that keeping your background (i.e. your face) as neutral as possible for the lash look to shine works well. There are three shades - Rouge Intense, Orange Bruni and Lilas (lilac) - and they're £38 each HERE.
