I’ve written about Reedling before - the only other person I see writing about Reedling is James Welsh, a make up artist and influencer who I don’t think is on Substack yet (his lovely brother, Robert at
is). Like me, James has a special interest in Asian skin care. As a reminder, Reedling is a popular Korean Beauty trend that uses micro particles to act like micro-needles when massaged into the skin via a serum. They’re made from sea sponge - these little ‘needles’ create very tiny punctures in your skin (why it’s being called Microneedling in a Bottle) to give better absorption of the serum and to kick in the skin’s repair process. My first introduction to reedling was via the 100 Vita-Light Reedle Shot Cica Reedle - the levels (indicated by the 100) go up to 900 and trust me, I am not anywhere near ready to go to that! It’s very prickly on the skin - like a skin acid that initially you might think you have to rush and wash off. I’ve been looking for a good mask for a while - sheet masks are not my favourite form of mask but I wanted to give the VT Reedle Shot 100 2-Step Mask a go. It’s a two step mask - the sheet followed by an essence. Since I initially wrote about reedling, it’s got more complicated - Cica Reedle technology consists of 95,000ppm (NO IDEA!!) of microsized needles, 14 times smaller than pores. With a mask, the thing you are most likely to physically see is a smoother appearance to your complexion.
I left the mask on (it’s drippy - have a towel ready although I was quite pleased that it spilled onto my chest and neck because they both got the reedling treatment as well) for about 2 hours, breaking my own rule of always doing a mask in the morning (sorry, not getting up at 6am even for investigative purposes!) and didn’t experience any tingling this time. I must admit that the tingling feeling got less and less the more I used 100 Vita-Light Reedle Shot Cica Reedle so in fact, I could probably move up a level.
Step 2 is applying the serum which contains Centella Asiatica, which is a heavyweight against free radicals, hyaluronic acid and panthenol. It was lovely and cooling and my skin drank it up. The following morning, sure enough, my skin felt ultra soft and properly exfoliated but in need of moisture. I never take any notice of the claim of reducing pores because you cannot close them but the overall look of my skin is clear and bright. The best bit is that the VT Reedle Shot 100 2-Step Mask is £3 HERE. If you like to experiment, give it a go.
I heard many users with pets have stopped using this because they are concerned about injuring them. I am guessing that when their pets lick them the ingredients can go into their lungs. Have you heard anything about this?
I get the concept but I’m unsure how having holes of any size in the skin can improve it
