E.l.f. Glow Reviver Melting Lip Balms

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I'm really not a fan of flavoured lip products - the odd one or two make it though but mostly, I'd rather have the thing it's supposed to smell or taste of than suffer the sugary chemical scents on my lips for any length of time. Of course, it's all a question of personal preference and with that in mind, I've put the new flavoured E.l.f. Glow Reviver Melting Lip Balms to the test.

I adore a melty balm - I love the glow and the colour tint which can vary from brand to brand. In this instance, e.l.f. has put a medium amount of pigment into the mix so you'll get more than just a nuance of the colours but not as much as a fully saturated lipstick. As you can see, there are six shades and flavours - they're swatched below:

So, you can see how thoroughly shiny the melting lip balm is and there is zero stickiness. From bottom to top: Vanilla Toffee, Yummy Gummy, Strawberry Shortcake, Blackberry Sorbet, Java Chip and Wild Cherry.

Okay, so here's how they look on. I'm going to take you through them, starting top left with a comment about the flavours. First, Vanilla Toffee is a creamy and warm caramel shade that tastes utterly horrible to my senses. I couldn't wait to take it off! It's a great colour if you want a kind of buttered croissant look but the taste. Omg. Next is Yummy Gummy in a kind of a general 'berry' shade that looks really nice on if that's your colour palette but again, the taste isn't great. If you love a gummy bear, you'll probably like it and I can see this being a very popular flavour. Strawberry Shortcake is next which I love as a gleaming, milky coral which is perfect for my tone. And, the taste isn't bad too. I actually quite liked it because it reminded me of a strawberry strewn Victoria sponge. Blackberry Sorbet is almost blackberry-ish but so, so sweet in flavour. It's a stunning shade for all tones - particularly deep - but I think it's a bit too vampy for me. Java Chip is a coffee hue and taste - another one that I didn't hate because sweet coffee is definitely a thing for me. Finally, Wild Cherry - I loved the bright red colour that veers pink and I didn't mind the cherry flavour and scent either.

I think these are going to appeal to the same audience that collects different scented hand sanitizers - might be a lot of playground swapping going on! They're £9 each HERE.
