Friday Treat : Fingerless Gloves

A handy guide...

[unpaid/purchase/affiliate] Missing from last week’s Friday Treat, Claudia on a Budget, was fingerless gloves. I held off on those because there are so many in the sale and (I think) the end of January is when you’ll see them disappear for reallocation to TK Maxx, Brand Alley or next year’s winter stock. Personally, I live in them – no matter how much heating I have on in my office, I still get cold while writing. Just sitting is the worst thing you can do to for your circulation and while I do my best to move around regularly, I still end up wrapped in a rug drinking copious cups of hot tea. It’s helpful to have my feet in my Fitflop Mukluk boots (ugly but so beautiful to chilly toes) and to wear fingerless gloves, of which I have several pairs, which not only keep my hands warmer but plug the gap between wrist and sleeve. I’m not making a distinction between wrist warmers which have no individual fingers and actual gloves because they do the same job – in fact, I find wrist warmers much easier to type in.

In the main picture, it's Chinti & Parker's super long sleeve fingerless - well, I guess they're arm and wrist warmers - at M&S on-line. They're a blend of 90% wool and 10% cashmere, available in light blue too and are hand-wash only. They're £40 HERE. The blue pair is from Brora, reduced from £50.60 to £45 HERE. I have a big fondness for Scottish cashmere because I grew up in the Borders which was (before they all closed down) mill country. My dad (for a time) ran a tweed mill and I can still remember the massive looms and the noise! The two tone pink fluffies are from Accessorize - they've never gone anywhere near cashmere or wool but will still be cosy and if you want a 'starter' pair to see if you can get along with the concept, they're reduced from £8 to £5.60 HERE.

The super cosy Fair Isle pair of fingerless gloves in the background (tres Claude) are from Suzie Lee Knitwear on Not On The High Street. They're 100% lambswool and are £32 HERE. The pale pink pair is from Nobody's Child and is made from 76% Recycled Poly, 15%Nylon, 6% Rws (responsible standard) Wool, and 8% Spandex and are reduced from £25 to £14 HERE. The yellow pair is from Bella Freud in wool and reduced from £55 to £27.50 HERE.

If you want a wild and wonderful Scandi palette theme, check out the background pair from House of Disaster for £16.50 HERE. Again, strangers to natural fibre, they'll still do the job of keeping the cold out. Don't rule out a pair from Turtle Doves (I have three pairs!) who use recycled cashmere to create their items. I like the idea of the Lucky Dip for £19.50 (instead of £39) HERE where they pick what colour you have. Unless you have a severe aversion to a particular colour, that sounds like fun to me. Lastly, the RA have those gorgeous Love and Hope fingerless gloves designed and made in Scotland with wool spun from Yorkshire - two of my favourite places in the world. They're £45 HERE.

Finally, because I spotted them while I was researching fingerless gloves, the Uniqlo/Anya Heat Tech hats are reduced to £9.90 HERE. The cashmere Anya Beanies are now £19.90 HERE. In the main picture, I'm wearing the Anya sleeveless gloves which aren't in stock on-line but I'm willing to bet they're still in store. After woefully under-ordering for Christmas 2023, Uniqlo over-ordered for 2024 and there is still plenty about.
