[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I cannot believe the first version of this post mentioned that Givenchy was L’Oreal owned - it isn’t! It’s fully LVMH. I know where the confusion arose (same agency as a L’Oreal brand) but nonetheless, that was me off my A game and not paying attention properly. All that said, I have truly loved the Givenchy beauty brand since it was given life by Ricardo Tisci - the new incumbent is Sarah Burton who has yet to make any changes to the leather and studs that have defined Givenchy beauty for the past few years.
Definition is one of the claims and that's very much helped by having a rubber nodule brush rather than bristle. Big bristle brushes don't really 'comb through' lashes but coat over them. This style of brush gives you a fair shot at individual lash coating but it's always going to depend upon your lashes. I'm not particularly a fan of pristine mascara - the whole 'separated with a pin' look (which make up artists actually used to do for mascara ad photography) isn't for me. I feel it should look a bit casually applied with a kind of don't care attitude.
You can do a bit of combing out with a spoolie - but who has time! Nobody has ever said that my carelessly applied mascara could do with a bit of refining. The texture of the mascara is creamy (it has D-panthenol to help keep lashes flexible and strong) and it applies very nicely - when it's brand new, wipe the brush first because it can over-deliver as most do but other than that it's a generous, lengthening and deeply black formula. The first day I wore it was for my day at Centrepoint and I did notice a bit of panda at the end of that day, but haven't since. I feel maybe that day was the exception because I was sweating! I've found the mascara at Look Fantastic for £27.20 instead of £34 HERE.
We used to use safety pins to separate our lashes back in the late 70’s early 80’s. Mascara was not easy to apply back then
I didn't know L'Oreal owned Givenchy. I have been so out of touch!
