[unpaid/sample] The latest LGFB box is here in the form of The Confidence Edit with products from OPI, Marc Jacobs, Philip Kingsley, Shiseido, Rituals, Dr Lipp and Dr Pawpaw, supported by The Perfume Shop. I’ll go through each product in more detail but just want to place the reminder that for every two boxes sold, a place is made for a LGFB beauty workshop for someone living with cancer. I never hear anything other than great things about the impactful workshops and know several people who have attended – they’re glorious, life-affirming and more importantly maybe, confidence building. Cancer robs people of many things but the obvious, front facing issues of hair loss and skin problems is the one that can feel very burdensome to carry. The workshops show women and men how to adjust their routines and techniques to accommodate the cosmetic and physical appearance changes taking place. Everyone takes home a mountain of knowledge, new friends and the joy of a day spent with others who understand exactly how it feels to be where you are.
Right, to the products. First, I’m going to hone in on the biggie – Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT (value £73). It’s the original (and in my view, the best) with violet, strawberry, gardenia and jasmine with a light white wood and musk base. Its fresh, feminine and happy and there’s nothing not to like about this mood booster. Ha – what’s funny is the description that suggests it’s an interpretation of summertime – kicking off your shoes and tumbling in the grass. Not with my hips it isn’t. Next up is Shiseido Wrinkle Smoothing Cream (value £57) – hate the name, obviously, but Shiseido is one of the most lovely skin care brands that we have access to. It’s more about how it makes your skin feel (although side benefits will be plumping) – soft, touchable and smooth. Foundation goes on better, your complexion looks vibrant and bouncy. Give it two weeks.
OPI’s Big Apple Red Nail Strengthener (value: £23) is something I could do with right now. It uses Tri-Flex technology that strengthens weak nails and this radiant red is what fingers and toes are waiting for as the sun shines. Dr PawPaw’s Hot Pink Lip Balm (value £4.25) is the sweetest of pink treats for lips with aloe vera and olive oil to beat dryness and give a pop of colour. I not-so-secretly love a foaming shower gel and Rituals Sakura Foaming Shower Gel (value £6.90) has their formula absolutely perfect. You get big floofs of foam with a milky, cherry blossom scent and what is not to love about that? I use it in the bath – be wary of not enjoying the floofs for long enough if the shower is too enthusiastic.
Everyone knows Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (value £12.50) by now – the fail-safe 20 minute hair treatment that still sells at one every 16 seconds! Lovely, lush and conditioned hair will follow. Finally, Dr Lipp Before N After Moisturiser (value £27.99) can be used on hair, scalp, face and body for an all over moisture boost. It’s gentle, fragrance free and has 11 industry accolades for the formula. The accompanying leaflet gives you a run-down of each product and, if you fall in love, a discount code for money off your next order. This is a beautiful product edit and I can see why it’s called The Confidence Edit (£50) because each product has a purpose and reason to be included for the joy, the celebration and the glamour. It's HERE.
Back in the days I was a gynaecology cancer research nurse I used to refer all my patients to LGFB. Every attendee gave the evenings big thumbs up. The networking, new friends & products new to them in the goody bags! Such a treat when everyday is a struggle
The one thing i miss about living in the UK is all these great value boxes, kits and deals! If they are for a good cause, it's even better!
