[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] My toes are newly painted (by me) in Essie Color Binge - tomato orange/red shade – because my feet are finally out. I’ve discovered that it’s from the 2015 Fall Collection and not only is it in perfect condition after ten years, but it gives a vibrant, holiday shade that is as relevant now as it was a decade ago.

However, back to Jel Oh Jel. My nails are in shocking condition – it’s hard for me to get any length to them before they ping off or flake so I tend not to bother doing much with them. I’ve just started the OPI Repair Mode (on offer HERE for £23 instead of £29) treatment again and they’re gradually falling back into line but as that’s a daily treatment, you can’t really use polish as well. However, I’m determined that something will be on my nails for my mini-holiday so I’ve been trying the Jelly Effect polishes from OPI. I’ve fallen for one shade, Jel Oh Jel, that’s a milky lavender that makes my nails look better than they actually are.

It's a shade that gives my nails a glow – it’s a coverage level that allows the white tips of your nails to show through while looking like a wash of effort has been made. I like it! All nail brands have tried this semi-transparent nail look and few have pulled it off– even CHANEL didn’t get it right – but I’d say Nails Inc have got it perfect. I mean, it must be infinitesimal degrees of colour nuance at the labs to get a transparent glaze that’s neither perfectly see through nor a full colour. The vibe of Jel Oh Jel is clean – it looks fresh, bright and polished (excuse the pun) with a my-nails-but-better edgy natural look. There are definite blue tones to the colour and I love the contrast against my now (despite SPF) warm toned hands. If you are very pale and blue toned, this might be a bit, er, coffin ready, for you but otherwise, I’d highly recommend it for pastel glaze charm. You can find Jel Oh Jel, £8 HERE.

If you want to make it extra, add a dot of Nails Inc Mani Marker at the base of each nail – I’ve used red.
