We are very much into behind the scenes here – I have to decide whether or not to take a potentially big story on or try to pass it over to someone with better access than me to the truth. So far, I can’t substantiate much of it, but here goes, based on an abundance of growing rumours that I absolutely believe to be true. I’ve mentioned before that some beauty brands are using AI to weed out undesired content on Instagram (and probably TikTok but I’m not on it any more) and this can be as ridiculously minor as having a certain brand’s buttons on show in a reel (AI has much to learn) to showing yet to be launched products. Or, it can be as random as any mention of a certain brand (not just one, but many brands are employing this tactic) or any pictures – even those taken from retail websites and have clearly already launched. It’s so out of control. But, what it means for content creators and resellers (more on that in a moment) is that they lose their Instagram accounts. No discussion, no discourse, little warning and no right to reply.
