Merit The Uniform Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF50 Review
Doing more by keeping it simple...
[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] The product of the summer is tinted sunscreen - everyone's had a go at it to greater or lesser success but I think Merit have the genre perfected. The Uniform is a mineral sunscreen and tint in one and I think the success of this is down to the fact that they're not trying to be skin care as well. It's exactly what it says it is, keeping things simple and using the ingredients needed to make two things happen, not throwing in the kitchen sink and hoping for the best.
I think my shade is 20 but because it was out of stock, I was sent a shade either side - 22 and 18 - to blend together for testing. I didn't need to do that in the end because 22 was absolutely fine for me.
The above shade is 18 - too deep for me. The texture of The Uniform Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF50 is fluid but it's not as thin as some that I've tried. In fact, I'd say it's reassuringly not thin or watery. It feels how you'd expect a facial SPF to feel bearing in mind it's going to protect your skin at maximum capacity and by that I mean up to the job. I should point out that it is suggested, on the packaging, that you reapply every two hours.
Bottom to top Shade 18 and Shade 22.
When I first applied it - and here's a dilemma, brush or fingers? I chose brush - it felt like I was applying far too much. I'd never apply foundation at that amount and initially it felt hefty and clammy on my skin. The key to The Uniform is to let it settle for as much as 10 minutes before you take another look because in that time, the wetness calms down and it looks exactly as though you've applied a light foundation, never mind a tint. I couldn't even feel it at all after a while.
This picture is on first application. It takes a while to blend so do be patient because it's worth the effort.

I mean, I think this is a very nice result for a sturdy SPF number and a polished looking complexion. There are 15 shade options and they're £34 each HERE.
i got this a few weeks ago and its so funny how well you described how it feels at first! - I thought it was too "heavy" for me - but its actually what I ve reached for teh most over the last few weeks - I am the palest shade and it always makes me happy when someone does a good pale shade that doenst go orange as well !
I've had mine a few weeks, and really like it. Having a real neutral undertone, I did hesitate on the colour though, either 28-fair neutral warm, or 26-fair neutral cool. In the end I went for 28, and it works very well. Is it useful having an SPF50, for me not really, as I'm only outside long enough to get in a car, outside at the other end and vice-versa. But for the time I am outside I guess it works..
