Oribe Silverati Collection For Grey Hair

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’ve had such a good weekend of beauty testing – often the week is so hectic and it’s a bit of a juggle creating separate content for Instagram and paying Subs that it’s the only time I can really drill down with stuff that takes a little longer. So, I’ll kick off with Oribe Silverati shampoo, conditioner and mask for grey hair. Wow – this stuff is amazing!

My recently dyed (from brunette, if you’re new here – and welcome!) hair has aspects of grey, ash blond and my original brunette, applied in very fine layers by my lovely local hair stylist. It was always my intention to play around with greys and it’s been interesting that most people think that I’m trying to play them down. I’m trying to play them up! I’ve seen enough mid-lifers who have taken the grey plunge to know that it can look absolutely amazing – striking, sexy and stylish – and I wanted to see if I could do it too. Turns out that I can, but with the caveat of a red lipstick at all times (Gucci Goldie Red Voile HERE).

What I’ve noticed is that the ashy grey strands have a tendency to head to blonde rather than keep their ashy whiteness. I started off using L’Oreal Elvive Purple Shampoo which was okay but didn’t boost the ash particularly. Unsurprisingly really, as it’s not their ‘grey’ range but their anti-brassiness range (I’m still learning!) and now my second experiment with new hair products is the Oribe Silverati range. I used the shampoo and then the mask – all I can say is wow! The difference after blow drying is so striking with the ashiness absolutely glowing through and, being new to greys, is something I didn’t know was actually possible.

Before and after above. There’s obviously a downside – the price! The mask – which is actually silver coloured thanks to cool blue and silver pigments - is £55 and that feels quite a lot to me. I’ve used plenty of Oribe over the years and very much rate it as a luxury hair brand – it’s rich, indulgent and gives the softest possible hair (their signature blend is watermelon, lychee and edelweiss with a ceramide complex) Illuminati also contains snow mushroom which apparently, boosts hydration. The shampoo is £47 HERE and the conditioner is £49 HERE.

It won’t surprise me at all if Silverati is undergoing a revamp – the Oribe website doesn’t have the conditioner and Net-A-Porter (where I’m sending you for the mask) doesn’t have the shampoo and generally stock is low everywhere. When you get oddities like that, usually something is up. Next on the grey hair list to try is a very cheap and cheerful range which hopefully will act as a balance to this very expensive collection.
