Victora Beckham Satin Kajals Explained

and the best way to use them...

[unpaid/purchase/affiliate] It's not the first time I've posted on Instagram about Victoria Beckham Satin Kajals and a couple of people have said theirs crumbled or broke or they simply just didn't understand it because it was smudgy and not precise. I've got several of the Satin Kajals, some of which have been press samples and some that I've bought so I've used them a lot and thought it might be useful to explain how I use them and what my expectations are.

My newest purchase is Night Flash - a sparkling grey/black. I also bought a Posh Balm but more on that later. The power player in Victoria Beckham Satin Kajals is synthetic wax - a wax derived from various oils but known for giving a water resistance and a smooth and soft texture. They also have a high colour pigment and silica pearl (so, no micro plastics).

Because of the waxy softness, these kohls are best used on the inner rims of the eyes where they glide like a dream. I personally wouldn't try using them for creating cat-eye flicks or any winging on the eye skin because the formula is too soft and smudgy for it to reliably stay without a great deal of fixing and powder. So the thing that makes them so perfect for inner rims works against them for lids.

I will use the liner above my top lashes and then smudge (there is a smudger on the other end of the pencil) so I get a smoked line at less intensity than the inner rim line. You might also notice that the Victoria Beckham Satin Kajals are so soft that it will seep from your water line (inner rim) to the skin under the lower lashes and I love this 'dirty line' effect - no need to bother with any under lash lining because it's already done for you and it looks pretty damn sexy as well. It's okay for kohl to be a bit smudgy and smoky - it's not at all the same thing as a liquid liner or a precision crayon liner. Make up artists may be able to achieve some precision winging but I'm not sure how possible it is for your average consumer (i.e. me!).

You can see the light sparkle in Night Flash. In honestly, you're probably going to be the only one that notices it but I really like the fact that it's slate grey rather than full on black. The other big issue with Victoria Beckham Satin Kajals - and again it's because of the softness of the waxes - is that they run down really quickly. In summer when it's hot, or you keep your make up in a warm room, move the liners in the fridge to keep the product firm and easier to sharpen. They'll also be less smudgy in application if you keep the tip sharp although it won't particularly matter for inner rim lining. What you don't want to do is let it run down to the wood because you can end up scratching yourself so do, as a matter of course, keep them sharp.

This is exactly how I wear them - my favourite shade is Bronze which is more of a 'gilt' colour - it gives you instant Mediterranean eyes but because of how fast the kohls run down, I'm on my second. Victoria Beckham Satin Kajals are expensive at £32 HERE (18 shades) so you need to consider whether the intense pigment and softness are going to work for you or against you and that will depend on what you use your kohls for and what your expectations are. Hopefully, this is helpful! I'm wearing the Posh Balm in Colette - a translucent red shade and my review is just meh. It's pretty but for £30 I wanted it to be spectacular. It's quite a thick balm so unlike most lip balms, it actually stays put, but the colour isn't punchy enough for me and it doesn't feel quite luxury enough for that money.
